This is intended to make all my readers in wet Britain or chilly northern France - and do let me know what it's doing your way, too - feel a little better.
Le tout Paris is here, or on its way. The entire population of France, rubbing shoulders with a good many people from the UK and the rest of northern Europe, has set up temporary home. The place is going to seem uncomfortably crowded for a while.
And the beach at Saint-Clair, one of a dozen within the commune of Le Lavandou and the one favoured by Sir Mick's ex Jerry Hall, who has a place there, has barely got into its stride. My picture was taken on Saturday afternoon; on Sunday, we were reading that the beaches of the Var were not yet by any means full.
Those 12 beaches include stretches to appeal to most tastes: pretty little coves, the sprawling town centre beach of Le Lavandou and, a little more out of the way, plages naturistes.
Then there's the opportunity to join those hoping for a glimpse of a jogging president, or his glamorous wife, at Cabasson, the sands opposite their official holiday home, the Fort de Brégançon.
That's in the next commune (Bormes-les-Mimosas). Nudists can also hop over to one of the three Iles Hyéroises, Levant. But they cannot any longer disrobe completely at Salins, between the seafront airport of Hyères and La Londe.
The unclothed have been going there for years, but are no longer welcome. The change of heart led a local police chief to remark that it is no more autorisé to go naked at Salins than on the main street of Hyères.
But that is not a problem that is likely to ruin my August. The crowds may prove harder to bear, though. Before I lived here, I was more of a Juilletiste - preferring July to August for holidays in the Var. If Saint-Clair was not crowded on Saturday, I do not wish to be there when it is.
