Salut! wishes all its readers an excellent Christmas and successful New Year.
There will be intermittent postings in the coming fortnight. I am off to Madrid and then London, returning to Abu Dhabi on Dec 30, after which normal service - or, as I was tempted to say, a state of normality - will resume.
It has been a hectic year, trying to juggle work - typically a 12-hour day, though it was a lot worse during The National's pre and immediate post-launch period) - and more work (Salut! and its offshoots being greedy consumers of time, especially since Typepad introduced its "improvements").
Please feel free to keep the comments coming. There is, as I am fond of saying on these occasions, lots of material to explore up and down the sidebar columns to the left and right of this item.
There are also three other sites - Salut! Live, Salut! Sunderland and Salut! North for those interested in folk and folk-rock music, Premier League football the North East of England. Over at Blogspot, Salut! Salam is essentially for those unable to gain access to Salut! (Typepad has problems in the UAE) and keen to see my reports and photographs about the Middle East.
My column at The National - My Word there, Mark my words here - will continue during my absence and I hope to post it here on each of the Saturdays that I am away.
