First, go back a step and read up a little on what this is all about: clicking on "Jimi Hendrix's spotty face, Johnny Hallyday and an autograph 45 years on".
This is the illustrative evidence that backs up the memories of Jocelyne Criticos on her teenage quest for a pop star's autograph.
Study the first image and you see that Jocelyne has written her name at the top of the record sleeve. The year is 1966 and the record is Je l'aime , then Johnny's newest release in France.
Then you see the signatures of Jimi Hendrix, his manager and band members, plus a couple of musicians also present when young Jocylene and her sister tried to locate their idol, Johnny not Jimi, after a concert in Nancy. This was only the second date in the career of the Jimi Hendrix Experience, launched as a live act the night before at Evreux.
Then look at the second image, above.
Below the word Johnny is Johnny's signature, obtained 45 years after Jimi and the rest of them had added their autographs. Follow the link to the previous posting for the story on how that came about.
I find the tale fascinating and am grateful to the many Hendrix fans who have come here from their own forums. And I can tell you that however snooty non-French rock fans get about Johnny Hallyday - I am not a great fan but suspect his concerts are impressive and thoroughly entertaining - the evidence I have seen suggests Jimi had a lot of respect for him.
Many thanks to Jocelyne, her daughter Valérie and a French authority on Jimi, Yazid Manou, for their invaluable help with these postings.
