Every so often, the night sky over the Varois hills cries out to be captured on film. Nature's tricks can produce splendid results, enhancing this corner of Provence as they do the others.
These results deserve, and frequently attract, the attentions of seriously good photographers rather than point-it-and-press merchants, but that is another matter.
This was the view from our terrace last night as night fell.
At one time in the recent past, I regretted that I no longer had sight of the sea. It is true that at our first home in France, a flat overlooking the port in Le Lavandou, the view of the bay was stunning.
But this is an alternative I can live with, especially since the sea is still only a short walk away even if the walk back, involving a steep ascent of steps (120 or so, though I am still liable to get a different total each time I count them), takes a few minutes longer.
