When Bill Taylor travels, the camera goes with him and generally captures the feel and substance of the places they have seen.
Every time I pop into my Intermarché and see a particular assistant on the fish or deli counter, or as likely having a fag outside, I think of the photo Bill took of her two years ago. It was of her having a fag outside and was taken with her cheerful consent, as I also recall.
Paris offers different photographic possibilities. Bill has just returned to Canada from a brief trip and several pictures now feature on his site, reached at this link. Each of the links down the left-hand sidebar will take you to little sets of photos taken during that visit.
Regular readers, and those familiar with Bill's work, will know he has a marked preference, and great gift, for black and white.
My own preference, when wondering which of the images to highlight at Salut!, was for those photographs that spoke to me of Paris, perhaps my favourite city.
All of these do. Others may gain greater enjoyment from examples at his site, not shown here, that could have been taken at a number of locations. When it comes to photographic art, we all know what we like.
