The French elections are, if we're honest, a mess. And the mess gets messier by the day.
Since writing this piece for IB Times, I have seen the leftwing rivals Benoit Hamon and Jean-Luc Mélenchon have hinted at joining forces - which would be interesting if the single candidate carried all those who supported the one standing aside - and Marine Le Pen has refused to answer police questions about her party's dodgy financial arrangements.
Oh, and François Fillon's Welsh wife, at the centre of a damaging scandal about payments for imaginary or at least highly exaggerated parliamentary work, is now reported to have decamped from Paris to get away from the fuss.
